A Conclusive and Definite SQL Backup Plan

Part of SQL services is SQL backup and there are many types of backups in SQL server just as what may be found in Microsoft’s list. An SQL backup is necessary in so many reasons as it is what both your business and server needs in order to prevent damage like crash and loss of data to incur a devastating effect to your business data. A disaster recovery plan is what SQL backup is basically all about because it is the only way that a business data loss can recover. Every SQL service should include SQL backup plans earlier than expected so that when disaster strikes, there is no fear of longer effects of the damage. This SQL backup should include recommendations that are based primarily on improving data restoration processes which are focused on optimized possibilities and scenarios that may occur. Everything shoudl be specific, definite and conclusive of the process to attain best results in the shortest time possible.

Scenarios and SQL Backup

So data is where the business relies, therefore there is no time to think when the problem is here. What I mean is that as well as a SQL backup is needed, so will a definite set of processes and solutions (disaster recovery planning) be needed to be set before the actual SQL backup occurs. This is the basic concept of SQL backup and this is what it is for, so to maximize the prevention of data loss and come up with a solution as early as possible, there should also be a ready list of the processes in a chronological order to recover data using SQL backup based on scenarios

Utilities and Tools for SQL Backup

SQL backup itself is a very sensitive process so it should involve careful handling in every move from transaction log, transaction files, physical and logical file names, log sequence number, recovery models and SQL server tools that you will need in accomplishing the work. There are other information that you might need with the recovery process using your SQL backup and what I’ve mentioned here are a few of them. As an additional tip, one special tool to use for SQL backup is the SQL trace analyzer.

SQL Backup Recovery Models

Choosing the type of SQL backup recovery model is the first step of the process of restoration aside from having the perfect disaster recovery plan ready before any disaster strikes. With Microsoft data engine database, there are 3 known choices for your SQL backup recovery model. These choices may either be: (source: Microsoft)

Full Recovery Model - Bulk operations through full transaction logging are allowed here. This makes it a comprehensive recovery model among the 3.

Simple Recovery Model - The prime purpose of the simple recovery model is to make the transaction log maintenance free. What downside this model has is that there is a limitation in its ability to recover data.

Bulk-Logged Recovery Model - This model have minimum logging for bulk import operations unlike the full recovery model which has full transaction.

Steps in Hard Drive Recovery

Hard Drive Data Recovery Tips

Hard drive data recovery is something that does not come by itself because this is something that you have to work hard for before you could achieve great results. Hard drive recovery will always involve using hard drive data recovery softwares to accomplish and the software that you will use is where everything else will depend on. For example. I remember having personally experienced doing the process and the result is a failure because not at all times, you can do the recovery as it all depends in the hard drive recovery software that you will use to complete the process. Another important consideration is to make sure that you haven’t done any drastic things to run the data that is stored in the hard drive.

Don’ts in Hard Drive Data Recovery

  • Opening the hard drive case or body and trying to put things you do not know anything about in place. The hard drive case in only intended and allowed for opening by qualified service personnel only.
  • Forcing the hard drive to go over the process of reformat. If the hard drive is already subjected to a reformat process, it is virtually impossible to make any hard drive recovery so it is better to leave the hard drive alone especially if you have important data contained in there. If you really need to recover them, leave the hard drive be for the experts and qualified people to apply the recovery process.
  • Trying to bump or to jug or to shake the hard drive. If you do not know what is inside the hard drive, allow me to warn you. There is a very sensitive needle that reads the hard disc inside the hard drive and transfers all the data for reading in the CPU. So it is strictly prohibited to shake the hard drive in any case.
  • Don’t attempt to recover files in your hard drive if you do not know anything at all or if you are not sure about the process that you are going to apply. Again, better leave it to the qualified person for proper procedures and methods to apply in the recovery of your data in the hard drive.
  • Don’t change the settings of the hard drive in any attempt to see what you can do to recover the data inside the hard drive, ie: change the settings in your hard drive from master to slave and so on.

These are just a few must not in trying to apply hard drive data recovery or data recovery from your hard drive. This can even lead to cases of impossibility. If you are not sure of what you are going to do, better leave it be because you might even ruin the possibilities that you can recover the hard drive data that you need to recover.

Do’s in Hard Drive Data Recovery

Actually, the do’s in hard drive data recovery are just the opposite of dont’s of hard drive data recovery but since I really want to make this part of the topic, I made sure that my tips are going smooth in your mind. So I decided that I would love to feature this as a reminder to all of you.

  • Do stop and pause for a while if you know that you have a hard drive problem and never take any other step that you are not sure of.
  • Take your hard drive to the proper people and do not forget to place it in a safe place where it will not shake or bump too much.
  • Wrap the hard drive with a soft cloth if possible or if you do not have the bubble wrap. Bubble wrap is always the best for use in transporting the hard drive.
  • Be sure to remember the last process that you are doing just before the hard drive failed to function for your PC.
  • Do not remove any connection in the tail part of the hard drive and be careful not to drop the master and slave connector for the connection terminals in the rear end (tail) of the hard drive.

After these few do’s and dont’s in hard drive data recovery, I believer that you are good to go for the recovery of your hard drive data. I’m also pretty sure that there are other steps that are safe to undergo along the recovery steps so you can feel free to add them all here at our tips list at Tips Paradise.

SQL Server Monitoring

posted by Tips Expert in TechnologY

So what is SQL server monitoring? Well, SQL server monitoring for your information is all about a special job by remote DBAs where they handle everything related to the server maintenance of the business. With server monitoring, there is always an assurance that the server will run smooth so that when customers come to a business site for any type of query or information, the server will respond to the request in a timely manner. This in return will help the business owner gain leverage in providing information in a timely manner and have the information of their business in a 24/7 basis.

SQL server is also the heart and soul of any business because just like when you are in the sports of biking or any other sports or anything in your life, there is always a need for maintenance. It is an essential integral part of life just like any business. Otherwise, you won’t have anything that you can be proud of without the maintenance that it needs. Furthermore, SQL server monitoring will always have a say when we speak of competition. This means that those who does not have the right server maintenance and people to handle them, any business will always fail to make up with the competition.
